Our content-rich events include conferences and workshops which provide opportunities for media women to share experiences, interact, and network with colleagues from all over the world.


The IAWRT 2016 Regional meeting will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from 26 to 28 October, 2016. The theme is The African Woman  and The Media: The Prison of Portrayal.  

IAWRT local chapters run activities such as gender media education, skills and support workshops and festivals promoting female media producers throughout the year.

The 2016 CSW Parallel event, Exploring strategies to eliminate gender inequality in the media was presented by IAWRT on March 17 2016, in tandem with the 60th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York. The IAWRT event was one of a smal number on media and it concentrated on strategies to reverse women’s under-representation and the continued use of limited or exploitative and damaging female stereotypes. 

the 36th IAWRT Biennial Conference, was held in New Delhi, India,15-18 December 2015. Under the banner of 'Speaking Truth to Power' topics included the safety and empowerment of women journalists, freedom of the media, conflict reporting, hate-speech on the internet, feminism though the decades and the oficial launch of the IAWRT Gender Mainstreaming report.
