Women in Media & News
WIMN is a media
analysis, education and advocacy group,
works to transform public debate by
promoting positive, accurate portrayals of
women’s and human rights issues in news and
entertainment media, and empowers women to
challenge media bias and generate healthier
images of themselves. WIMN’s dual goal is to
activate women’s and other public interest
groups to challenge structural,
institutional and contextual media bias and
demand accountability from media outlets –
while simultaneously working with media
producers to broaden the quantity and
diversity of women’s voices appearing in the
media. We seek gender equity for women as
news sources, placing an emphasis on
particularly underheard segments of the
female population, including lesbians, women
of color, low-income women as well as youth
and senior citizens. (Based in the USA)
