Southern African Media and Gender Institute
Promotes grassroots activism through gender advocacy, media production and training. SAMGI promotes human rights by increasing the range of voices heard in Southern Africa through participatory education, advocacy, lobbying and media production to improve the status of women.

Groundspark
Initiating change from within. Formerly Women's Educational Media, Groundspark creates visionary films and dynamic educational campaigns that move individuals and communities to take action for a more just world.

CitzenShift
Website for the National Film Board of Canada called CitizenShift. Their mandate is 'media for social change'. Topics are widespread because they depend on community and citizen voices to fuel the debate. Each topic is contextualised by video, podcasts, texts, links, photography and blogs, something that sets them apart from many other social issues-based websites.

Media Helping Media (MHM)
Set up to provide a platform for those involved in the media in transition states, post-conflict countries and areas where freedom of expression and media freedom is under threat.

LunarFest
LUNAFEST is a national travelling festival of short films by, for and about women. LUNAFEST runs from October-March at 100 venues around the US and is seen by over 20,000 viewers. Each ticket sold raises money for Breast Cancer Fund and local non-profit organisations.

MediaRights
MediaRights maximizes the impact of social-issue documentaries and shorts. By engaging with our community, filmmakers reach audiences, educators and librarians bring films into their classroom, and nonprofits and activists integrate media into their campaigns.

Commonwealth Press Union Training Kit: Gender for Journalists
This 'Gender for Journalists' toolkit is based on 'Media Gender Strategy' training workshops for sensitising the print and broadcast media as to the portrayal of women. It is designed to make you aware of the areas where women are disadvantaged and the role that men can play in bringing about change.

The Women's UN Report Program & Network
WUNRN is a non-governmental organization to implement the conclusions and recommendations of a United Nations Study on Freedom of Religion of Belief and the Status of Women From the Viewpoint of Religion and Traditions. This study is a major, universal, comprehensive UN approach to intolerance and discrimination against women based on religion and traditions.

The Global Fund for Women
The GFW seeds, strengthens and links women's rights organizations worldwide working to gain freedom from poverty, violence and discrimination. Since its inception in 1987, the Global Fund has provided significant support to groups engaged in radio and media work.

Women's Radio Fund
This fund aims to develop and distribute funding for women's radio broadcasting, production, and distribution projects. It also promotes and showcase the work of women in radio worldwide, using web pages and netcasting.

Documentary Film Makers Group
Comprehensive resource for documentary filming. DFG's work falls into three main strands: training; screenings, festivals and forums; and production. Their aim is to "encourage, stimulate, promote and support the growth of a strong community of documentary filmmakers and film audiences".

Peoples Video Network
Media activists with more than 50 public access shows across the US and hundreds of DVDs and videos documenting struggles. They have sent correspondents to the Lacondon Jungle, Russia, Cuba, Korea, Puerto Rico, South Africa, and Iraq. They produce and edit DVDs and videos about issues the corporate media will not touch with the goal to break the information blockade of big business media.

MadCat Women’s International Film Festival
MadCat is a highly acclaimed festival that exhibits independent and experimental films and videos directed by women from around the globe. The Festival emphasizes work that is inventive and visionary. MadCat takes place each September in the San Francisco Bay area.

Artists Television Access
Since the early '80s, Artists' Television Access has provided equipment, education, and a screening venue for independent film and video to artists and the community in San Francisco's Mission District. Our mission is to bring the tools of the mass media within reach.

MadCat Women's International Film Festival
Acclaimed international festival that exhibits independent and experimental films and videos directed by women from around the globe. The Festival emphasizes work that is inventive and visionary. MadCat takes place each September in California, USA.

South African Scriptwriter's Association
SASWA was established in 1974 to bring together working scriptwriters who have common interests. It is administered by an elected council of Full and Affiliate members who contribute their time and expertise on a voluntary basis
