FOKUS – Forum for Women and Development – is a knowledge and resource center for international women’s issues with an emphasis on the spreading of information and women-centered development cooperation. FOKUS’ primary goal is to contribute to the improvement of women’s social, economic, and political situation internationally. As of February 2010, the organization consists of 71 women's organizations and women's committees in political parties, trade unions, and solidarity and aid organizations. FOKUS receives financial support from the Norwegian Agency for Development (NORAD) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (UD) through framework agreements on development and information activities. *********************************************** WITNESS is an international human rights organization that provides training and support to local groups to use video in their human rights advocacy campaigns. Beyond providing video cameras and editing equipment, WITNESS is committed to facilitating exposure for our partners' issues on a global scale. It helps broker relationships with international media outlets, government officials, policymakers, activists, and the general public so that once a video is made, it can be used as a tool to advocate for change. *********************************************** ABU or the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union is a non-profit, non-government, professional association of broadcasting organizations, formed in 1964 to facilitate the development of broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific region and to organize co-operative activities amongst its members. It currently has over 200 members in 58 countries, including IAWRT, reaching a potential audience of about 3 billion people. *********************************************** The Tun Abdul Razak Institute of Broadcasting and Information (IPPTAR) evolved as a training institute under the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture and aptly renamed the Tun Abdul Razak Institute for Broadcasting and Information or IPPTAR in August 2008. IPPTAR is the only national institute conducting professional courses in the field of Broadcasting, particularly in program production and radio and television engineering. Having the technical expertise and facilities that complement with the goals of IAWRT, IPPTAR agreed to serve as the local host of IAWRT in Malaysia particularly for the conduct of its 34th Biennial Conference. *********************************************** · IAWRT has ongoing and active relations with international organizations such as: ECOSOC, the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the UN DPI-NGO partnership, the Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID). · IAWRT networks with international media organizations including: the Commonwealth Broadcasters’ Association (CBA), the Asia Institute of Broadcast Development (AIBD) and the European Broadcasters’ Union (EBU). · IAWRT has active relationships with media and related organizations including: ISIS international, ISIS/WCCE, GenderLinks, Saathi in Nepal, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Gender Institute in India, NRK Norway, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC), Swedish Radio and ABC Australia. Some of these provide funding or in-kind support. |
